Windsurfing: Moulay Bouzerktoun Wind Direction: N Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Scorchio!!! Sea Temperature: Weather: WtW sunshine :) Max Speed: Distance Covered:
After two days of enforced rest - the first very welcome, the second much
less so - the wind returned with a vengeance for the...DOWNWINDER!!!
Youssef's pick-up was loaded as planned and driven about 10km upwind to a
cross-off beach break that was deserted save for a few fishermen plying
their trade. On arrival the wind was crap and we had brought only 4.0s and
4.5s. We were considering driving back to Moulay to pick up our 5.2s but
Youssef and Fettah were certain that the wind would pick up. We weren't
convinced but sure enough local knowledge was correct and soon we were all
maxed on 4.5s. No groundswell meant that the waves were small but they were
super clean and really great fun in the cross-off direction. With no
worries about staying upwind I scored loads of proper good dtl turns
linking several sessions per ride oooohhh so much fun I luv wavesailing. I
even popped my first ever proper aerial off one waist-higher oh yeah. :)
The wind continued to increase and the last part of the session - the manic
overpowered downwind blast back to Moulay - wasn't so great. But overall a
superb trip that was well worth the effort. That long beautiful deserted
sandy beach with no rocky foot-spiking reef to worry about and wall-to-wall
sunshine illuminating endless small clean azure (not Moulay brown!) waves
caressed by a perfect cross-off breeze...mmmm more happy memories. Our only
regrets were that we didn't make the trip earlier in the week when the
waves were bigger! That beach must really fire when a proper groundswell is
pumping.
